An intensive training program for boys aged 8 to 11 years to strengthen their social and emotional competencies.

The Second Step Program

The Second Step program is designed to enhance students' social-emotional competence and self-regulation. In small groups, students will strengthen their empathy, emotion-management, and problem-solving skills while learning to use these skills in social and academic settings. These are important skills for children and adolescents who are more likely to succeed in school when they have a strong foundation of social-emotional competencies.

An Evidence-Based Training Curriculum

The Second Step program is an evidence-based curriculum developed in the U.S.A. and has received various awards from The Department of Education, the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning, and The White House.
The Second Step program utilises different modes of instruction and is highly interactive, such that students are given many opportunities to practice skills and participate in discussions. Videos are presented each session which dramatise common scenarios that students this age encounter. The classes will be facilitated by two masters-level psychologists, a counselling psychologist and an educational psychologist, maintaining a teacher-student ratio of 1:3 and ensuring that the program has maximal benefit for each individual.

Dates:               April 17th to June 26th (Every Tuesday - except May 1st; 12 sessions total)

                         Two booster sessions will be scheduled in August before the new school year begins
