F.O.C.U.S. began in 1990 as a small parent support group, meeting in the home of Kathy Nichols, the founder. Over the next seven years, the group grew in size, and eventually began meeting at St. John's Cathedral. In 1997, F.O.C.U.S. registered as a charity in Hong Kong, and established a local Executive Committee as well as an international advisory board. From there, F.O.C.U.S. began offering an increasing number of services to its members and the community. In 2005, F.O.C.U.S., with the generosity of Sino Land, moved into its own office in Pacific Plaza. From this base, the organization produced a large-scale conference with international speakers and attendees from all over the Asia-Pacific region.
Today we serve parents, teachers and children in Hong Kong from our centrally located office at 289 Hennessy Road, Wanchai. We now have classrooms for our children's courses and teacher training and with the generosity of Round Table 10 Hong Kong's funding, an expanded library section for our members to use.
“We applaud and continue to support the amazing work of F.O.C.U.S.”

Student aged 10 (ADHD with Dyslexia), Summer Intensive Reading Program
"My son Harry undertook a FOCUS session in the summer holidays and not only did he find it helpful for his writing and reading, but also enjoyed the interaction with the staff and other children. The environment was friendly and relaxed, which is ideal for a 12 year old boy, and the methods used took into consideration his difficulties with processing some verbal information quickly. I would gladly enrol him in a FOCUS course again in coming school holidays."
Susan Harrison, Summer Intensive Reading Program
"Harry and Finn really enjoyed the intensive summer reading program. They were really enthusiastic to participate daily and asked me on numerous occasions to increase the time they were there and also extend the weeks they were enrolled! This is very unusual for my sons who are not always enthusiastic about reading!!! We found the teachers to be knowledgeable and competent. I will definitely consider enrolling the boys again next summer."
Elizabeth Holt, Summer Intensive Reading Program
'Good interactive activities. Very relevant to my profession.’
‘The practical strategies suggested were fantastic. Very well organized. Speaker was extremely effective. There were plenty of practical activities that can be applied immediately in class. Very relevant to my profession.’
‘Very practical. The speaker has made a difficult task seem so much easier. Thank you!’
Teachers - Neil MacKay Workshop
'We cannot do the summer program but would like to know when you send out news of the Fall program as we will want our two boys to attend. Our boys rapidly progressed from behind in their grade to being ahead of their grade and confident happy readers. It has been a super program for their reading! Just great to see their progress and the teachers have been absolutely lovely and great with the kids. Thanks much!'
